The thing about having anxiety issues is that you never know what is going to push that button or when it is going to happen. You can’t plan for it. All you can do is hope you’re able to deal with it as happens. Recently one of my friends told me I had a very weird habit when I was feeling anxious about things. She said I hum Disney songs while I rub my ear. I never realized I was doing this. So I tried to start paying attention to what my outer body was doing when my mind was “going crazy”…sure enough, I was humming songs from my childhood while I was rubbing my ear with my finger and thumb. How I had never realized I did this I do not know. What I do know is that it seems to help calm me (or keep me calmer) than the times I found I was not doing this.
